Fourth Quarter 2025 Wrap-Up

December has come to an end. The fourth quarter of 2025 honestly doesn’t even warrant this wrap-up post. There is really nothing of great importance for me to talk about.

Well, I suppose I did leave y’all on a small cliffhanger regarding the dream job of my delayed third quarter wrap-up. I mentioned then that I nearly walked out on said “dream” job within the first two weeks, but forced myself to give it a little more time. In the end, after barely two months, I had to quit right before Thanksgiving. There were two many red flags all around and it was stressing me out, affecting my health and sanity.

So, we’re back to square one on the job front with just the horse farm. I can’t say that I’m really looking for anything else at the moment. My chronically ill ass doesn’t have a great track record of handling two jobs it seems. Yet one income isn’t enough.

Ahh, adulting, fuck you.

On the other front of these last three months, I achieved zero words. I mean literally zero. I think I managed to open the document once or twice and simply stare at it blankly. I thought about needing to write for a lot of reasons, but nothing happened beyond that. The imposter syndrome is rearing hard again over the complete shitstorm that became the second half of 2025 and writing. So many hopes for this year washing down the drain yet again… That’s more a story for my 2025 Publishing Wrapped though, coming tomorrow.

There was a half ditch effort in December with another impromptu personal writing challenge I dubbed #JustDoItDecember. A last attempt at finishing this draft within the same year. Alas, that fell very flat, very quickly. It’s likely fitting that my favorite bougie cupcake shop I used for celebratory milestone goals in writing has also closed their only location near me. Go figure.

I did, at least, manage to keep reading a tiny bit. I read another four books this quarter. One in October and November, and two in December. I actually kept my “one book a month” goal! I know, I’m as shocked as you are. My reading stats for 2025 are wild, much of which you’ll see in my 2025 Year in Books post, coming later in January.

Mid-October did give me one pleasant surprise when I logged on to find another literary agent had followed my Twitter account. That brings me up to three follows from legitimate literary agents, one of which I didn’t even notice when it happened but realized later on when I went to follow her.

.

Beyond that, there isn’t much else to note. I managed to break 900 Twitter followers, then dropped back below 900, then jumped way back up thanks to one shout-out post. I got to fulfill a tiny dream of riding bareback at the holiday barn party in December, and even got a teeny tiny raise this winter. (We are not going to talk about actual winter though, as it has come in with a vengeance all month long and I am already praying for spring.) Lastly, I finally got the chance to spread half my friend’s, P.T. Wyant’s, ashes with her roommate in October and the rest came home with me, a year after her death. It was a bit of closure I needed.

So, yeah, when I say the fourth quarter of 2025 was pretty much nothing, I meant it. I can’t even imagine what 2026 might have in store for me. I’m not sure I can even be hopeful about it at this point. Hope seems to be doing me more damage than good anymore.
